The Ministry of Tourism announces the announcement of a sponsorship scheme entitled "Sponsorship Scheme for the Revitalization of Rural, Mountain, Remote and Remote Areas through the Creation of Authentic Experiences".
The objectives of the scheme are to provide targeted support for:
a) Upgrading or restoring public or private buildings or open spaces in order to make them accessible for experiential tourism activities.
b) Improving the aesthetics and accessibility of open spaces.
c) Development of specific forms of tourism and outdoor activities.
The broader aim of the Plan is to strengthen the local economy, improve the visitor experience and thus increase the number of visitors to the hinterland.
The project is addressed to natural and legal persons, and to Local Authorities in specific areas.
For businesses, the aid intensity ranges from 50% to 75%, depending on the area, with a maximum funding amount of €300.000, based on the De Minimis Regulation.
For Local Authorities, the aid intensity is 100% of the total cost of the eligible interventions, with a maximum funding amount of €65,000.
Applications will be accepted until the 28th of June 2024, at 12:00 pm.

The total amount expected to be made available for the needs of this call is €4,000,000 and will be covered by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
The Deputy Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, in a statement, said.
At the same time, we take it for granted that these projects will prove to be very important for the development of tourism in the hinterland and in the other areas covered by the Plan.
In fact, the sponsorship plan that we have just announced or incentive projects of this type can lead to a targeted diversification of our country's tourism product and certainly to an increase in the competitiveness of Cypriot tourism."
