Signed today by the Director of the Department of Urban Planning and Zoning, Mr. Savvas Petrou, on behalf of the contractor company, the contract for the project "Demolition of two apartment buildings in the Government Housing Estate Kokkinis in Strovolos, Nicosia, within the framework of the "BuildingZO" Sponsorship Scheme (at 155 and 163 Kantaras Streets)". The Contract for the project was signed for the amount of €29,981.00 plus VAT, and the demolition works are expected to be completed within a period of four months.
The project is part of the "BuildingZO" Project, which involves the provision of sponsorship to beneficiaries of apartments in 358 existing blocks of flats in government housing settlements for displaced persons, for the repair/reinforcement or reconstruction, if required, of their blocks of flats.
The demolition of the two blocks of flats in the government settlement "Kokkines" follows the demolition of the five blocks of flats in the government settlements "Agios Eleftherios" and "Apostolos Andreas" in Latsia.
At this stage, the Department of Planning and Zoning has launched three tenders for the demolition of six apartment buildings (two in the government settlement 'Platy' in Aglatzia, two in the government settlement 'Chrysospiliotissa' in Deftera and two in the government settlement 'Agios Spyridonas' in Kato Polemidia). With regard to the demolition of the remaining seven apartment buildings in the government settlement "Strovolos C", the Department is proceeding with the preparation of Tender Documents for advertisement, thus completing the demolition process of the 20 apartment buildings of the first phase of the Plan, which were found to be immediately unsuitable.
