[PIO] Signing of contract for the supply of fire-fighting vehicles

The Department of Forests and KYKON Ltd signed a contract for the supply, maintenance and training in the maintenance and use of seventeen (17) fire trucks capable of carrying 6,000 litres of water to the Department of Forests. The contract was signed on Monday, 03/06/2024, by the Director of the Department of Forests, Dr. Savvas Iezekiel and Mr. Panayiotis Konstantinou, Director of KYKON Ltd.

The contract has a duration of 26 months, with the partial delivery of the vehicles:

  1. The first twelve (12) fire trucks, whose purchase cost is fully covered by Intervention C2.1I9: "Forest Fire Protection", implemented under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, over a period of 20 months and
  2. Five (5) vehicles, whose purchase costs are covered by National Resources, over a period of 26 months.

The procurement of these vehicles will be phased through 2026 and is expected to make a catalytic contribution to the Department of Forestry's operational capability to respond to and suppress forest fires.
