The Academy of Security and Defence of the Ministry of Defence and the University of Timisoara, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College and with the support of the Embassy of Romania in Cyprus, organize the seminar "Diplomatic Skills for Peace, Security and Defence", which takes place in Larnaca from 8 to 11 April 2024.
During the seminar, new and old diplomacy, globalization trends, the relevance and place of public diplomacy in the context of Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions will be discussed and concepts and practices related to digital diplomacy will be introduced. The ultimate goal of the seminar is to train staff to work effectively in areas related to CSDP at operational and strategic level.
The total of 22 participants come from nine countries (Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Romania, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Georgia). On the Republic of Cyprus side, personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence and the National Guard are participating. The ten speakers come from respective Institutes, Universities and Organizations (European Commission, West University of Timosoara, Egmont Institute, University of Nicosia, University of Piraeus, Neapolis University, The Cyprus Institute, Ministry of Defence of Romania, Embassy of Romania in Cyprus, National Intelligence Academy of Romania). The Honorary Ambassador Euripides Evriviades delivered an opening speech, in the presence of ambassadors and diplomats accredited to the Republic of Cyprus.
On the last day, certificates signed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Mr. Josep Borrell, to those participants who have successfully completed the seminar and online courses of the European Security and Defence College.
