In view of the upcoming start of the school year, in order to better inform consumers, the Consumer Protection Service has completed a survey to collect data on the retail price levels of consumer products used for school equipment.
The survey concerns the prices in force on 29/7/2024 in a total of 16 points of sale (bookstores, supermarkets, department stores, clothing stores) operating in all provinces and includes products that are the most widely used for school preparation for students.
The publication of this Observatory is a useful information tool for consumers, strengthening their ability to carry out market research and make the most advantageous purchases for them. Moreover, it adds transparency to the overall market picture and helps to promote competition.
The Consumer Protection Office clarifies that the Price Observatories are prepared solely for the purpose of assisting/generating information for consumers and do not constitute advice under any circumstances. The Price Observatory is not intended to and cannot replace the market research that each consumer must carry out on the basis of his or her own preferences, data and needs, nor is it intended to indicate to consumers the points of sale they should choose.
For the products included in this Price Observatory in particular, it is stressed that there are qualitative differences which cannot be taken into account in the results of a Price Observatory. To this end, the Consumer Protection Office urges consumers to carry out meaningful market research before making purchases in order to find the products and prices that meet their requirements.

Please note that the Consumer Protection Service will repeat this survey/observatory at a later stage and new data will be presented regarding the price variation in the product range mentioned.
