The Department of Road Transport, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces the following in relation to the renewal of vehicle registration licences for the year 2022:

2. The last day of renewal is Friday 11.3.2022.
3. Marketing authorisations may be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months.
4. Traffic permits shall be renewed until Friday 11.3.2022 without charge. For renewals made after Friday 11.3.2022, the sum of EUR 10 and an amount equal to ten per cent (10%) of the registration fee corresponding to the amount due for the current year shall be charged as a surcharge.
5. For the renewal of the registration permit there must be:
- Certificate of Fitness
- Safety
6. TOM advises everyone to ensure that they renew their vehicle registration in good time and not to wait until the last few days to avoid possible overloading of the system which may cause inconvenience
7. As a reminder,those who had renewed their vehicle registration for the year 2021 but do not intend to renew it for the year 2021 should submit a vehicle immobilization notice to the TOM. The immobilisation can also be done online on the TOM website (Road Transport Department (mcw.gov.cy)). Otherwise the obligation to pay the amount corresponding to the registration fee continues to exist.
8. Vehicles for which the registration permit for the year 2021 has not been renewed and which have not been declared as immobilized will be deleted from the TOM register if the amount due for the year 2021 is not paid and the registration permit for 2022 is renewed by Friday 11.3.2022.
9. In case of destruction of the vehicle, an application for cancellation of vehicle registration (Form TOM 98A) accompanied by the "Certificate of Destruction" issued by a licensed vehicle waste treatment facility should be submitted to the TOM to exempt the owner of the vehicle from paying registration fees from the date of destruction of the vehicle
10. Registration permits may be renewed throughout the year, online, at Banks, CCPs, Provincial Offices of the Department of Postal Services and Provincial Offices of the TOM
11. No notices will be sent to vehicle owners for the renewal of registration permits.
