[PIO] Renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP by the UN Security Council

The UN Security Council met today (27.1.2022) this morning, in an official session chaired by the Permanent Representative of Norway, Ambassador Mona Juul, unanimously adopted a resolution to renew the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, UNFICYP, for a further six months, until 31 July 2022.

It is noted that prior to the Security Council meeting, the Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN, Ambassador Andreas Hadjichrysanthou, presented the President of the Security Council with a letter of consent from the Government of Cyprus, as host country, to the renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP.
