The UN Security Council, meeting on 30/01/24 in formal session under the chairmanship of the Deputy Permanent Representative of France, Ambassador Nathalie Broadhurst, unanimously adopted the resolution on the renewal of the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, UNFICYP. The renewal of UNFICYP's mandate is valid for the next 12 months, i.e. until 31 January 2025.
A copy of the resolution was circulated today (31.1.24) as an official document of the Security Council under the number S/RES/2723 (2024).
We note that prior to the Security Council meeting, the Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN, Ambassador Maria Michael, presented to the President of the Security Council a letter of consent of the Government of Cyprus, as host country, to the renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP.
