Another action to promote Cypriot wine and gastronomy was held by the Ministry of Tourism in Tochni on Friday, May 31, 2024.
The well-known German journalist Mr. Sven Rahn, a well-known German journalist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of wine and gastronomy, who writes articles on the subject in major publications in Germany, experienced the experience of preparing Cypriot dishes on the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, with the support of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Sven Rahn. During his meeting with Mr. Koumi, Mr. Rahn also had the opportunity to discuss, ask questions and express his views on the gastronomy and local products of our country.
During his week-long visit to our island, Mr. Rahn had the opportunity to visit notable local food production units, wineries and to participate in various experiential activities.
The distinguished visitor left Cyprus with the best impressions of the destination and enthusiastic about the coumadaria, which he considered, as he said, to be the best sweet wine he has tasted so far.
The design of targeted and specialised actions, which highlight authentic flavours and offer unforgettable gastronomic experiences to visitors, is among the actions that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is currently placing particular emphasis on.
In view of the above, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, through targeted actions and initiatives, has set wine and gastronomy as a priority issue.
Apart from the actions and initiatives related to the interior to maximize the use and consumption of authentic local traditional food products in our country's catering businesses, the Ministry of Tourism has undertaken a series of other actions for the promotion and internationalization of Cypriot wine gastronomy, such as the organization of a Masterclass in the context of international wine competitions, the hosting of specialized gastronomy and wine journalists by the circle of wine writers, as well as the hosting of a specialized team from the Na
In addition, local products and coumadaria are offered at all exhibitions and events that the Ministry of Tourism participates in abroad.
The actions of the Ministry of Tourism are part of its initiative to declare this year as the "Year of Gastronomy and Coumadaria" and in this context additional actions are planned to be implemented during the year.
