The temperature forecast for the rest of June, according to the German Weather Service's (DWD) Climate Watch, for the eastern Mediterranean region is expected to be much higher than normal temperatures, with frequent heatwave episodes. DWD's Climate Watch acts on behalf of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The Cyprus Meteorological Department (CM) forecasts a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius for inland areas for tomorrow (Tuesday), while for the following days until Saturday the temperature will rise to around 44-45 degrees Celsius. Thereafter, the temperature is expected to drop, but will remain above the seasonal average, which for the interior is around 34 degrees Celsius.

The times when the very high temperatures are recorded are between 11:00 and 17:00. The public is advised to monitor the bulletins issued by TM daily (3 bulletins are issued per 24-hour period with updated forecasts where and when needed, based on new forecast and actual data), as well as the associated warnings.

Attached is the medium-term forecast bulletin with temperature characteristics beyond normal for the eastern Mediterranean, resulting in prolonged very high temperature conditions.
