The Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism met today, Tuesday, 1 March 2022, and discussed the following issues:
1. The Tourism and Travel Agencies and Tour Guides (Amendment) Act, 2022.

The Committee, having taken a position on the provisions of the above Bill, in respect of which no amendments were tabled, decided to refer it to the House.
2. The Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Fund Operation Act of 2022.

3. The Law on the Promotion and Encouragement of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources of 2022.

The Committee began the article-by-article discussion of the above bills in the presence of government officials and stakeholders, during which it reviewed, among other things, the provisions of the first bill concerning the composition of the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Fund Management Committee, the financing of investments and activities by the Fund, the imposition and collection of the consumption tax, and the dissolution of the Fund, and the provisions of the second bill concerning, inter alia, the approval, certification and licensing procedures for the production of electricity from renewable sources, the production of energy for heating or cooling from renewable sources and the process of processing biomass into biofuels, bioliquids, biomass fuels or other energy products and into renewable liquid and gaseous fuels and transport fuels of non-biological origin, as well as the timing of their processing.
The purpose of the first bill is to introduce new legislation to improve the operation of the Renewable Energy and Energy Saving Fund and to enhance its effectiveness in promoting renewable energy sources and energy saving, as well as to achieve the corresponding national binding targets. The purpose of the second bill is to adopt new legislation to harmonise national legislation with the European Union act entitled "Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources".
The Committee decided to continue the discussion of the bills at its next meeting.
