On 28, 29 and 30 May, in Rome, Italy, the annual IACS Community Exchange-ICE Conference took place, organised by the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Union (EU), the European Commission and the Italian Rural Payments Agency Agea.
The conference was attended by Paying Agency officials from the 27 Member States, representatives from the European Commission, the Director General for Agriculture and Rural Development (CAP Strategic Plans I) Ms Christina Borchmann, representatives from the JRC, including JRC Director General Ms Alessandra Zampieri, as well as companies supplying satellite imagery and GIS systems. The Cyprus Agricultural Payments Agency (CAP) participated in the conference with the Head and an Officer of the Technical Services Department.
The conference provided an opportunity for Member States to share best practices and challenges regarding the implementation of the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) and the evaluation of its quality. Discussions were also held between the Commission and Member States to find technical solutions to facilitate the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027 and reduce the burden on farmers and Member States.
Research Centres and private companies presented the latest technological developments concerning the Area Monitoring System, thus providing the link between scientific research for monitoring agriculture.
