MPs Mr. George Karoullas (leader), Mr. George Koukoumas, Mr. Zacharias Koulias, Mr. Alekos Tryfonidis and Mr. Alexandra Attalidou will travel to Madrid on Sunday to participate in the 23rd Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), which will take place on 1 and 2 October 2023. The Conference is organised by the Parliament of Spain, as part of the parliamentary dimension of the current six-month Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).
The main topics of discussion at the Conference will be the priorities and current developments in the areas of CFSP and CSDP, the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and issues related to European defence.
In the margins of the Conference, the regular meeting of the parliamentary delegations of the EU's Mediterranean countries (GroupMed) will also take place, during which security challenges in the Mediterranean region will be discussed in particular.
