The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (M.P.A.N.) announces the opening of the Optional Full Day Primary Schools, Kindergartens and Special Schools (P.O.S.) from Monday 2 October 2023, according to the annual schedule. All schools involved have already been notified.
The timely operation of P.O.S. is being achieved despite the challenges presented by the change in the teacher employment status, the abolition of the market for services and the offer of contracts to temporary teachers through the Education Service Commission (ESC) lists.

The institution is expanding to eight new schools this year.
The P.O.S. program is offered free of charge to all children. Parents/guardians contribute financially only to cover the cost of feeding the children.
In the coming days, the Ministry of Education will continue to consult with both the P.O.E.D. and organized parents and the N.E.Y. in order to regulate all individual issues concerning the operation of the P.O.S, including that of the calendar extension of their operation from the current school year, in order to further restructure, modernise and improve the institution.
