The Welfare Benefits Management Service of the Ministry of Social Welfare announces the opening of applications from parents for participation in the Tuition and Feeding Subsidy for Children up to Four Years of Age and the new Tuition and Feeding Subsidy Scheme for Children aged four years to four years and six months for the year 2024;2025, which were approved by the Council of Ministers on 8 July 2024.
Beneficiaries of the Plans are all recipients of Child Benefit for 2024 who necessarily meet the following criteria:
[1] [1] They have a dependent child who has not reached the age of four years and six months by 31/8/2024, and
[2] They have enrolled the eligible child in a nursery or kindergarten participating in the Plans.
Under the Plans, up to 80% of the monthly cost of the target group's children's attendance at daycare centers and kindergartens is subsidized. It should be noted that for the new Scheme for children up to four years and six months old, the same criteria apply as for the Tuition and Feeding Subsidy Scheme for children up to four years old.
The online application, which is uniform for both Schemes, will open for parents on 2 September 2024 and will be posted on the Government Portal and on the Welfare Benefits Administration Service website.
It is clarified that all parents must complete an application, regardless of whether some parents were already eligible for the 2023-2024 school year.
Explanatory information for completing the online application has been posted at www.wbas.dmsw.gov.cy. To access the online application, parents are required to create and confirm their personal access account through the government portal gov.cy. The online application is submitted only by the parent, who is considered as the beneficiary of the Child Benefit.
Upon submission of the online application and given that the criteria listed above are met, parents will be notified immediately of the approval of the application and the subsidy will be paid directly to the provider on a monthly basis from the month in which the online application is submitted.
Beneficiaries who submit their online application on or before September 30, 2024, will be eligible for the subsidy from 9/1/2024 or from the start of the child's enrollment if later, and for beneficiaries who submit their application after that date, the subsidy will begin from the month in which the application is submitted.
If approved, the subsidy will be valid for the entire school year. Note that the subsidy is always paid after the end of each month and therefore for the month (only) in which the application is submitted, providers are encouraged to prepay as their normal practice and then reimburse the difference.
