The Mayor of Nicosia and Chairman of the Nicosia Sewerage Board (BSC) Mr. Constantine Yiorkatzis met yesterday, 30 May 2024, with his friend Mehmet Harmanji to settle some final details and, through the trust that has been built, allow those decisions to be taken which ensure that the Operation and Maintenance of the Mias Milia Wastewater Treatment Plant remains under the joint management of the two communities.
The ongoing cooperation between the two communities simultaneously creates the conditions for advancing the objective of implementing the project of using the treated water from the Mias Milias Wastewater Treatment Plant for the benefit of both communities.
During the meeting with Friend Mehmet, they had the opportunity to assess the progress of the project to replace 4.2 km of the E main pipeline, through funding from the European Union. The sections of the pipeline to be replaced are located within the buffer zone of the Ayios Dometios area of occupied Nicosia and from the barricade of Markos Botsaris Street in the Nicosia Industrial Area to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in occupied Mia Milia. The works will be carried out in two phases and are expected to commence in July 2024.
