In order to better inform consumers, the Consumer Protection Service has completed a survey to collect data on the retail price levels of consumer products for Boxing Day, for the prices in force on 3.3.2022.

The survey covers a total of 77 points of sale (large and small supermarkets and fruit shops) operating in all provinces and includes products which are the most widely used for consumption on this day (vegetables, salads, halvah, seafood, etc.).

The publication of the Monday Price Observatory is a useful information tool for consumers, enabling them to carry out market research and make the most advantageous purchases. Moreover, it adds transparency to the overall market picture and helps to promote competition.

The Consumer Protection Service clarifies that the Price Observatory is prepared solely for the purpose of assisting/general information for consumers and does not constitute advice under any circumstances. The Price Observatory is not intended to and cannot replace the market research that each consumer must carry out on the basis of his or her own preferences, data and needs, nor is it intended to indicate to consumers the points of sale they should choose.

For the products included in this Price Observatory in particular, it is emphasised that there are qualitative differences which cannot be taken into account in the results of a Price Observatory. To this end, the Consumer Protection Service urges consumers to carry out meaningful market research before making purchases in order to find the products and prices that meet their requirements.

Finally, it is stressed that the prices presented in each publication of the Price Observatory refer to the prices on the specific dates on which the price survey has been carried out, i.e. 3 March 2022 in this case.

All the data of the Observatory, together with graphical representations, are provided on the website
