[PIO] Members of the Parliament's delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union will participate in a Parliamentary Meeting at COP28 in Dubai

MPs Mr. Alexandra Attalidou, head and member, respectively, of the Cypriot delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will participate in a Parliamentary Meeting in the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP28). The Meeting is co-organised by the IC and the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, 6 December 2023. The MPs will be accompanied by the Senior International Relations Officer, Ms Augusta Christou and the International Relations Officer, Mr Costas Koullapis.

The main objective of the Meeting is to create a framework for parliamentary dialogue that will provide support to the urgent efforts being made at the international and national levels to translate the commitments of the Conference into practical applications to address climate change through international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The meeting will address, inter alia, the activation of mechanisms to reduce the impacts of climate change and promote climate action for vulnerable communities.

At the meeting, it is expected to adopt an outcome document reaffirming the commitment of parliaments to the climate agenda and their commitment to addressing the climate crisis in order to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement, by strengthening their cooperation and their role in addressing climate change.
