A very productive and constructive first meeting was held today between the Chairman of the Board of the National e-Health Authority (NHEA) Professor Christos N. Schizas and the Head of the World Health Organization Office in Cyprus Dr. Irshad Ali Shaikh. During the meeting, Mr. Shhizas informed about the actions of the National e-Health Authority aiming at the full implementation of e-Health in Cyprus, as well as about the coordinating role played by the National e-Health Authority in the European Union as the leader of the Joint Action of the Member States for the definition of an integrated and interoperable electronic health record of the European citizen that will lead us to the European Health Union.

It was agreed to develop a close cooperation to further modernise and upgrade the health sector in Cyprus and cross-border health services, aiming at better prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management of health and lifestyle.

It was decided to organise a joint scientific meeting in Cyprus in 2024 to transfer know-how and cooperation between the European Union and third countries. The aim is the cross-border exchange of health data beyond Europe to better serve workers and visitors from and to third countries.
