A very good meeting was held today between the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr Alexis Vafeades, in the presence of the President of the Licensing Authority, Ms Despina Amerikanou, as well as competent officials of the Ministry, and representatives of the Nicosia Taxi Owners and Operators Guild. At the meeting, the concerns expressed by the representatives of the guild were presented for discussion. Regarding the issue of unlicensed professional taxi drivers ("piracy"), they were informed that the draft law is already at the Legal Service. The Minister expressed the Ministry's commitment that the procedures for strengthening the field of supervisors would be intensified, and the Ministry would increase inspections within its capabilities. Vafeades recalled the cooperation of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works with the industry towards ensuring the smooth operation of public transport.
