Meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Kormakitis Mr. Tony Pavlou, as well as the member of the Community Council Mr. Ninos Hadjisamoutis, was held by Ms. Anna Aristotelous, Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Trapped Persons. The meeting is part of the frequent contacts and the network of cooperation and communication that has been developed and established by the Head with the community leaders and resettled persons in order to improve the living conditions of our internally displaced persons. In this context, the Resettlement Plan is being considered with the aim of providing incentives for staying and resettlement in our occupied villages, since it is the resettlers together with our internally displaced persons who for so many years have kept our occupied villages alive despite the difficulties and problems.
In the context of the meeting, among other issues, the issue of the passage of the interned and resettled patients and students from the free areas to the occupied Kormakitis, through the Agios Dometios barrier, was raised, in order to ensure a way to assist the patients to travel without delays to our occupied villages from the hospitals in the free areas, as well as the students so as not to lose the precious time they have for study and preparation for the next school day.
Mrs Aristotelous informed that within the framework of the people-centred policy of the Governance Programme of the President of the Republic, all the necessary arrangements have been made to solve this long-standing problem, in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Cyprus Negotiator, and there will soon be an announcement on how the issue will be resolved, since the aim and priority is to facilitate the lives and well-being of all those stranded and resettled.
