The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the Service for Expatriates and Repatriates has been reintegrated into the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Service for Expatriates and Repatriates was established in 1976 with the aim of utilizing the Cypriots of the Diaspora in Cyprus' struggle for survival and vindication, as well as for solving the problems of Cypriots abroad and repatriates. The Council of Ministers decided to place the Service under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981. The Service for Expatriates and Repatriates was transferred to the Presidency of the Republic in 2016.
It is noted that among the objectives of the foreign policy of the Republic of Cyprus is the development of organic relations with Cypriots in the Diaspora. With the reintegration of the Service for Expatriates and Repatriates into the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, efforts to further upgrade the issues of the Service will continue.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs has appointed Ambassador Theodora Konstantinidou as Head of the Service for Expatriates and Repatriates.
