[PIO] Informative meeting of CYS National Standardisation Experts on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity

In the framework of the implementation of the mission of the Cyprus Standards Organisation (CYS) to strengthen the national standardisation system and to better inform stakeholders about standardisation activities and the benefits arising from the use of standards, an information meeting of National Representatives and Members of CYS Reflective Standardization Committees on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity was organized on 12 January 2024.

On behalf of CYS, the responsible Standardization Officer Joseph Karis presented the newly established standardization committees in the field of information communications and technologies (ICT) and in which national delegates actively participate representing CYS. He then referred to the standardization procedures to be followed and specifically presented the obligations and benefits of the National Representatives and members of the National Reflection Committees resulting from participation in standardization work.

Subsequently, the National Representatives Konstantinos Tsiuptos, Maria Rafael, Argyro Hatzopoulou and Tasos Irakleous presented the work and developments of the European Technical Committees for Standardization in which they actively participate at international level (ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27): Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection / ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42: Artificial intelligence) and at European level (CEN/CLC/JTC 13: Cybersecurity and Data Protection & CEN/CLC/JTC 21: Artificial Intelligence). At the same time, the attendees were informed about the developments regarding the European AI Act and CRA - Cyber Resilience Act.

At the meeting the participants had the opportunity for networking and networking, while after the presentations were followed by questions and a constructive discussion where the need was expressed to repeat such meetings that help the community and stakeholders involved in standardization committees to be informed about the developments in the field of Information & Communication Technologies.
