The inauguration ceremony of the first President of the Limassol District Self-Government Organisation (LEA) took place today. A historic day for the city and our District, as it marks the beginning of the reform of local self-government.
The Limassol EOA, which was established in accordance with the 2022 Law on District Self-Government Organizations (Law No.37(I)/2022), includes the following services. [/LIST]
And it will be responsible for:
- drinking water
- sewage drainage
- rainwater management and flood protection of our towns and communities
- solid waste management and exploitation
- development licensing, i.e. the issuing of Planning and Building Permits.
During the ceremony, consecration and blessings were given by His Grace Bishop Nicolas of Amathus and greetings were given by the Deputy Director General of the Limassol EOA Mr. Socrates Metaxas, the outgoing President of SALA Mr. Nikos Nicolaides and the outgoing President of SYL Ms. Elektra Panayiotou.
Then, the President of the Limassol EOA Mr. Yannis Tsouloftas spoke and the ceremony was concluded with the presentation of a short video about the Limassol EOA.
As the President of EOA Limassol said, with proper planning, passion and vision, we are collectively creating a new public organisation in our Limassol District, an efficient, reliable, healthy, flexible and humane EOA Limassol, with modern concepts, social background, development orientation and environmental sensitivity.
The new Agency starts its journey with the public interest and the service of citizens as its primary objective and, as the Agency's logo indicates, our ship follows the course of the sun, to take the city and the Limassol District even further ahead.
