Annual Change in Sales -0.2%
In May 2024, total petroleum product sales reached 122,359 tonnes, a slight decrease of -0.2% compared to May 2023. A decline was recorded in ship oil supplies (-30.1%), as well as in sales of heavy fuel oil (-26.5%), heating oil (-19.4%), motor oil (-6.5%) and gasoline (-2.0%). In contrast, an increase was recorded in supplies of oil to aircraft (4.2%), as well as in sales of light fuel oil (58.7%). As for sales from petrol stations in particular, they decreased by 4.7% to 53,484 tonnes.
Total sales of petroleum products in the month of May 2024 compared to April 2024 increased by 6.4%. Indicatively, supplies of oil to aircraft (12.7%), as well as sales of motor oil (3.9%) and gasoline (3.4%) increased. Total stocks of petroleum products at the end of May 2024 increased by 27.2% compared to the end of the previous month.
In the period from January to May 2024, total sales of petroleum products increased by 2.2% compared to the same period last year.

Methodological Information
Purpose and Coverage
Import data collection, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.
It covers sales of petroleum products from petroleum service stations and sales to government departments, British Bases and the United Nations, ships and other customers, as well as stocks at the end of each month. Only oil companies are covered. In addition, it includes imports of petroleum products directly from the Cyprus Electricity Authority (CPA) and the manufacturing industry.
Data collection
Data is collected on a monthly basis by the Statistical Service, which receives the specially designed questionnaire electronically from each of the companies concerned.

The Predefined Tables in Excel format include data up to December 2022. For January 2023 and thereafter, updates are only made to the CYSTAT-DB Database.
