With tonight's beautiful event we honour the memory of Pantelitsa and Adria Panagidou.

Let me first of all congratulate Mr. Panagidis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Charitable Foundation "Two Warm Embraces" for its important action, and all the other members of the Board of Directors for their voluntary contribution and the support they offer to our fellow human beings.

Volunteering is intertwined with selflessness, love, contribution and humanity.

The activity of organized volunteering in Cyprus is supported by the State to provide services in support of governmental work. The role of voluntary organisations is multi-dimensional and extends across the whole spectrum of social life. As the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare we choose to support private initiative because, first and foremost, we draw on the experience of the people themselves who are experiencing the challenges or their families. We build our policies and implement them based on this experience and experiences.

Through synergies developed over time by the State Ministry of Social Welfare and Social Welfare Services with the Organized Voluntary Movement, we have succeeded in implementing and improving services to meet important social needs, such as school and pre-school child care, 24-hour and two-day care for the elderly and people with disabilities, the specialized needs of victims of violence, victims of sexual exploitation, unaccompanied minors and other vulnerable groups of the population.

In this context and through the State Aid Scheme, the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare provides annual financial support to Non-Governmental Organisations and Local Authorities operating programmes in the field of social care. In 2023 the Deputy Ministry provided financial support of over €17 million, In 2024, spending is estimated at €19 million.

Friends,

Proceeds from tonight's event will be used to support children and their families and to purchase medical equipment.

Congratulations to the performers and a well done to the students of the Character Acting Studio.

The State Ministry of Social Welfare is contributing the sum of €1000 for the purpose of the event.

Merry Christmas to all. Let's enjoy the show.
