It is a privilege to be here today, representing the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, at the performance "Timocyprus" - an artistic tribute to the history of Cyprus from its birth to the present day, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of 1974.
Tonight's performance, under the general curatorship of the President of the Cultural Association "Romiosyne" Mr.
Since 2014, the "Romiosi" Cultural Association has been presenting a rich and multifaceted work, through educational and anniversary events, artistic workshops, theatrical performances and academic lectures on our history, traditions and Greek culture in general, both in Cyprus and abroad.
The "Romiosi" Cultural Association has been presenting a rich and multifaceted work, through educational and anniversary events, artistic workshops, theatrical performances and academic lectures on our history, traditions and Greek culture in general, both in Cyprus and abroad.
The President and the more than 300 members of the Association, as well as all the volunteers and contributors to its activities, deserve special congratulations for the zeal with which they surround every effort both for the promotion of the history and traditions of our country, as well as the work of contemporary creators, and at the same time because most of the events organized by the Association have, apart from their educational character, a community purpose, developing collaborations with charitable organizations.
The Government and in particular the Deputy Ministry of Culture actively support artistic creation aimed at education, promotion and dissemination of our cultural heritage and identity and thus I would like to convey the thanks of the President of the Republic of Cyprus for your contribution to Cypriot society and the message that the State will always be a supporter and helper in such commendable efforts for the transmission of our cultural identity to new generations.
