The Council of Ministers approved today 11 January 2024 the proposal of the State Ministry of Social Welfare to grant a lump sum for 2024 to beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGA) who receive a rent subsidy through the Rent Subsidy Scheme for Displaced Persons, Survivors and other Persons.
This decision was deemed necessary following the decision of the Council of Ministers on 30 November which approved the across-the-board increase in rent subsidies granted through the Rent Subsidy Scheme to displaced persons and survivors.
Pursuant to the ERC Law, the amount paid as rent allowance is reduced by the amount received as rent from anywhere else.
The reduction that this decision would bring about in the housing provision of ERC beneficiaries participating in the Rent Subsidy Scheme for Displaced Persons, Survivors and Other Persons will be fully offset by a corresponding one-off payment for 2024.
