[PIO] Government doctors' strike suspended with the intervention of the Minister of Health

After hours of negotiations, which took place today at the Ministry of Health on the initiative of the Minister of Health Mr. At the Ministry of Health, during an hour-long meeting at the Ministry of Health under the initiative of Mr. Michalis Damianou, with the two sides OKYPY - Guilds of government doctors PASYKI/PASYDY and with the participation of the Pancyprian Medical Association (PIS), there was a positive outcome and the announced 48-hour strike of government doctors between 2-4 July has been suspended.

In the framework of the meeting the following was agreed. The deadline for the negotiation of this framework has been set for 31 October 2024. [*]The proposal of the Board of Directors of the OCYPY dated 25 June 2024 is withdrawn. [*]For the financial aspect of the matter relating to the year 2023, it has been appointed that, on the basis of the existing agreement, an independent firm, mutually acceptable to both parties, will be responsible for the financial aspects of the matter. The result presented by the independent firm will be binding on the parties involved. [*]During the negotiations, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, intervened and invited all sides to dialogue, to which all sides responded positively.
