[PIO] Forest fires under full control in areas of Flayas Valley, Paphos Forest, and Kalopanayiotis, Troodos Forest

The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Monday 13 May 2024, at 11:00 a.m. a fire broke out in an area of the Flayas valley, in Paphos Forest, at 11:45 a.m..

The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the first fire in the Paphos Forest being brought under full control at 11:30 am. The fire burned an area of 0.5 decares, covered with forest vegetation. The fire was extinguished by 12 persons of the Forestry Department with 3 fire engines.

The fire in Kalopanagiotis was brought under full control at 12:05 p.m., after burning 0.5 decares of forest vegetation. Seven people from the Forestry Department with 1 fire truck and one fire truck from the Kalopanayoti Community Council with volunteers worked to extinguish the fire.
