[PIO] Forest fires in the communities of Anaritas and Neo Choriou in Paphos District under full control

The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that two forest fires occurred today in Paphos District.

The first one occurred around 13:25 in the area of Kapparovounos, Anarita municipality. The fire was brought under full control at around 14:40, after burning a ten hectare of bush and low wild vegetation. Three persons of the Forestry Department with two fire engines and two persons of the Fire Service with one fire engine were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The second fire broke out around 14:05 in the location "Pregou" of the community of Neo Chorio. The fire was brought under full control at 2:35 p.m. after burning a dozen acres of low wild vegetation and dry grasses. Six members of the Forestry Department with four fire engines were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The causes of the two forest fires are being investigated.
