The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Thursday, 25 July 2024, at 08:00 a.m., a fire broke out in an area of the community of Pyrgos (near the exit of the community of Parekklisia) of Limassol District.
Thanks to the immediate intervention of the forest firefighting forces, the fire was brought under full control before it spread, burning a small area covered with dry grass and brushwood.
Seven members of the Forestry Department with two fire engines operated to extinguish the fire.
The fire was caused by ignition of a passing truck.
