The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Tuesday, at 15:40, a fire broke out in the community of Agios Epifani of Orini.
The fire was brought under full control at 16:45, after burning an area of 1.5 hectares covered with low wild vegetation and olive trees.
To extinguish the fire, 12 people of the Forestry Department with five fire engines and 10 people of the Fire Service with four fire engines operated. Residents of the community of Agios Epifanios also contributed to the extinguishing operation.
Firefighting forces will remain in the area throughout the night to monitor the fire and to deal with possible rekindling.
