The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that yesterday, Saturday, 3 August 2024, at 17:00, a fire broke out at the location "Karyes", in the Community of Sia, Nicosia District.
The intervention of the forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 17:20, after burning a small area of low wild vegetation, dry grasses and acacia trees.
To extinguish the fire, 14 people of the Forestry Department with five fire engines and three people of the Fire Service with one fire engine operated to extinguish the fire.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
