The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that yesterday, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 14:08, a fire broke out in the State Forest "Pycnis", in the area of Zalatzia in the Municipality of Peyia, Paphos District.
The intervention of the forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 14:55, after burning an area of five decares of low wild vegetation.
To extinguish the fire, 24 people from the Forestry Department with five fire engines and six people from the Fire Service with two fire engines operated. Four aircraft and two canvas-carrying vehicles also assisted.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
