The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Sunday, 04/08/2024, at 13:15, a fire broke out at the location "Kaloiri", along the road Agia Mavris - Pera Pedi.
The intervention of the fire brigade was immediate, and as a result the fire was brought under full control at 13:55, after burning a small area of low wild vegetation.
Five members of the Forestry Department with a large fire engine and five members of the Fire Service with two fire engines operated to extinguish the fire.
Firefighting forces remain in the area to deal with possible reignition.
At first glance, the fire may have been caused by branches falling on medium voltage power lines, but the exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
