[PIO] Forest fire in Paralimni under full control

The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, at 16:40, a fire broke out near the state forest "Agioi Saranda" in Paralimni.

The fire was brought under full control at 18:25, after burning an area of two hectares covered with cypress, carob and olive trees, as well as fruit trees.

Three persons of the Forestry Department with one fire engine and seven persons of the Fire Service with three fire engines operated to extinguish the fire. The extinguishing operation was also assisted by a three-man crew of the Municipality of Paralimni with a rubber excavator.

The exact causes of the fire are being investigated by the police.
