The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that the fire that broke out today, Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 8:42 am in Kapilios Community, Limassol District, was fully controlled at 12:00 pm.
The fire burned an area of five hectares consisting of almond trees, carob trees, olive trees and wild vegetation.
58 people of the Forestry Department with 11 fire engines, two tankers and three earth movers participated in the extinguishing operation. The Forestry Department's operations were assisted by the Fire Department with 12 personnel and four fire engines.
The extinguishing effort was assisted by five aircraft.
Forces remain on the fire for any rekindling.
The exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
