The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, 17 August 2024, at 13:35, a fire broke out in an area of Aradippou Municipality, Larnaca District, near the Rizoelia forest.
Thanks to the immediate intervention of the forest firefighting forces, the fire was brought under full control at 14:30, before it spread, burning an area of two decares, covered with pine trees, cypresses, cherry trees and rhododendrons.
To extinguish the fire, 10 people from the Forestry Department, with three fire engines, and four people from the Cyprus Fire Service, with one fire engine, operated to extinguish the fire.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
