The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 16:15, a fire broke out in an area of the Municipality of Kleros.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces and local authorities was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 16:35, before it spread.
Two fire engines of the Forestry Department with six firefighters, two small fire engines of the communities of Kleros and Kalou Chorio with six people also and a private agricultural tractor worked to extinguish the fire.
The causes of the fires are being investigated.
