The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:45 a.m., a fire broke out in the area of Mersinia of the Community of Lagoudera, near the Adelphi State Forest.
The fire was brought under control at 11:40, after burning an area of two decares covered by low wild vegetation and bushes.
To extinguish the fire, 22 people of the Forestry Department with four fire engines and four people of the Fire Department with two fire engines operated. Two people from the community of Lagoudera contributed to the extinguishing effort with a small fire engine.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
