The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that yesterday, Saturday, at 17:30, a fire broke out in an area of the community of Neo Choriou, Paphos District.
The intervention of the forest fire-fighting forces was immediate and the fire was brought under control at 18:15, burning an area of one decimeter of grain.
Six members of the Forestry Department with two fire engines, six members of the Fire Service with three vehicles, as well as a fire engine from the New Village Community participated in the extinguishing operation.
The fire started from a mechanical failure of a passing vehicle within a rural road and spread to an adjacent field.
