Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides will have a private meeting and extended consultations with his Cuban counterpart, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, who will pay a working visit to Cyprus on Monday (10/1).
In the framework of their contacts, the two Ministers are expected to review the full range of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Kuwait and examine ways to further enhance cooperation in specific areas. They will also exchange views, inter alia, on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the wider Middle East, on the Cyprus problem, as well as on EU-Kuwait relations, particularly in the light of Mr. Christodoulides' invitation to the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to attend an informal working breakfast with the Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States, which will be held in his honour on the margins of the forthcoming Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on the 24th of this month.
At a special ceremony to be held at the end of the consultations, two Memoranda of Understanding will be signed between the governments of the two countries concerning, respectively, the prevention of theft, illegal excavations and the illegal import and export of cultural property, and the establishment of a Joint Cooperation Committee.
Immediately afterwards, Mr. Christodoulides and Sheikh Al-Sabah will make statements to the press (around 12.45pm).
