Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos inaugurated on Monday, 22 July 2024, a photographic exhibition on the 50 years of Turkish invasion and occupation at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union (EU) in Brussels.

The photographic exhibition consists of a collection of photographs from the Press and Information Office Archive. Through the photographs, the events of the Turkish invasion are recorded, recalling Turkish brutality, aggression and ongoing violation of international law.

Brussels is another stop in the collection of photographs that travel, through the network of the Diplomatic Missions of the Republic of Cyprus, around the world.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister said that the exhibition is dominated by the faces of the summer of 1974, which are engraved in our collective psyche, sealed in our minds and anchored in our memories.

Fifty years of Turkish occupation is enough, he said, stressing that our constant goal remains the reunification of Cyprus. Our side remains committed to the agreed framework of a bicommunal, bizonal federation with political equality, as envisaged by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and with full respect for the principles and values of the EU, he concluded.
