[PIO] Foreign Minister goes to Brussels for the EU Foreign Affairs Council and the EU-Egypt Association Council

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos is travelling to Brussels today, Sunday, 21 January 2024, where tomorrow, Monday, 22 January 2024, he will participate in the work of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council (FAC).The situation in the Middle East will be the focus of the FAC's discussions. In this context, the Foreign Ministers will have separate informal exchanges of views, in the morning, with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, during the working lunch with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia Mr. Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Egypt Mr. Sameh Shoukry and Jordan Mr. Ayman Safadi, and in the afternoon with Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki.

The FAC meeting will be preceded by an informal working breakfast with the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shoukry.

On Tuesday, 23 January 2024, the Foreign Minister will participate in the EU-Egypt Association Council meeting, which marks the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the EU-Egypt Association Agreement in 2004.

In the margins of the Councils, the Foreign Minister will hold bilateral meetings and contacts with his counterparts.
