The Civil Defence Force announces that, on 17 February 2024, from 6:30 am to 3 pm, a nationwide exercise will take place in the Troodos area, called "OLYMPOS 2024", which deals with search/rescue management actions in a steep, snowy, mountainous area and the rescue of people from a ravine and rapids with the support of the drone team.
Approximately 60 members of the Civil Defence Force (permanent staff and volunteers) from all Districts will take part in the exercise.

The ultimate goal and purpose of the exercise is to test the activation procedures, team approach in engaging complex and difficult incidents, organization and operation of Local Operations Control Center, training in techniques for locating and extricating people from ravine and rapids, handling trapped/injured people, first aid. In addition, the purpose of the Exercise is to assess the psychological factors that affect members of rescue teams when working under time pressure and depending on the severity of the incident.
