The President of the Democratic Party (DIKO), Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos, arrived today at the polling station of the Second Primary School of Egomi Paris, where he exercised his right to vote.
Subsequently, Mr Papadopoulos made the following statement. I would like to thank the civil servants and the police officers who will be working throughout the day today, so that these elections can be held properly.
I want to believe - and I am sure and confident - that the Cypriot people will once again show their maturity, but also their democratic culture, because above all, today is the day of the citizens. It is Democracy Day. It is the day when we will take important decisions. These elections are serious, they are important, they are crucial. They are important for local government, crucial for the future of our country in Europe.
For this very reason, I would like to call on everyone to come to the polling stations today and exercise their right to vote. Together we must all choose the best and most suitable, those and those who can decide on all the important issues of everyday life concerning local government, those and those who will honour us in the European Parliament.
Marginalisation cannot be an option. Society must have a voice in local government. Cyprus must have a strong, strong, credible voice in the European Parliament. Good vote to all."
