The Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (LRCRC) announces that today at 6.00 p.m. it received a radio call for persons in distress after a boat capsized in the Mari sea area due to adverse weather conditions in the area.

KSEED proceeded to implement the National Plan "NEARCHOS" by mobilizing a speedboat of the Port and Maritime Police, a speedboat of the Submarine Disaster Unit of the Naval Command and a helicopter of the Air Operations Unit of the Police, with a specialized nurse of the Ambulance Service of the OCYPY.

The rescue means located the wreck site and recovered all eight crew members from the water. All the rescued persons were transported by helicopter and speedboats to the Evangelos Florakis Naval Base in Mari, where they were picked up by an ambulance of the OKYPF Ambulance Service.
