Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis is visiting La Hulpe, Belgium, today for the informal meeting of the European Union (EU) Tourism Ministers, organised in the framework of the Belgian Presidency.

The central theme of the meeting is the need for action by all EU Member States to accelerate both the green and digital transition, issues which the Belgian Presidency has placed high on its priorities in order to strengthen the resilience of the tourism ecosystem.

As officially stated, the Belgian Presidency wishes to place particular emphasis on sustainable development and improving Europe's attractiveness through the tourism ecosystem.

In the context of the meeting, European Ministers will be invited to express their views on the content and progress of the implementation of the so-called dual transition, which is the main instrument for charting the course of tourism in the EU.

In addition, during the meeting, Ministers will have the opportunity to exchange views on the outlook for tourism at European level and the expectations of each Member State, with reference to the Palma de Mallorca Declaration signed during the Spanish Presidency.
