On Thursday, 25 July 2024, as part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the National Guard (NF), a demonstration of operational capabilities was held by personnel and means of the force.
The demonstration took place in the Zygios area, in the presence of A.E of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the Minister of Defence Mr. Vassilis Palma, the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, members of the Parliamentary Defence Committee, the hierarchy of the General Staff of the National Guard (GNEF), a delegation of officers, as well as a large number of people.
During the demonstration, among many other things, parachute drops, helicopter crossings, special operations actions, tactical movements of sections on main weapon systems, as well as combat support actions were performed, while mock firing using artillery shells and smoke grenades was also carried out.
The demonstration is part of the events and activities of a celebratory nature that are scheduled to take place in all the cities of Cyprus to mark the 60th anniversary of the AF.
